Chaos in the eye of a needle! Following his 1999 album for No.6 Records The Lives of Charles Douglas (which was produced by the Velvet Underground's Moe Tucker), Charles returns with a reissue of his first two vinyl-only albums on one CD.
31 Flavors features all of the tracks from 1996's Minor Wave and 1998's The Burdens of Genius, first released by the Voltage label in Chapel Hill.
Charles originally recorded these 31 addictive pop songs in his basement in Allentown, PA and then travelled to NYC where Sonic Youth producer Wharton Tiers mixed, sliced and diced these gems into a state of perfection.
Ranging from brilliant pop songs like “New Attitude” and “King of Industry” to the deranged cacophony of “Prince,” 31 Flavors is the best collection of songs you've never heard.
Magnet, CMJ, Puncture and Christgau in the Village Voice have all praised Charles as some kind of unheralded genius… And we agree!
Charles is currently in the studio working with the Pixies' lead guitarist Joey Santiago on his next studio album, due out in the spring on No.6/Enabler.
